Websites: Business or Fun? Hire It Out or Do It Yourself?
Designing a website used to be tedious and complicated. But like many other technologies, those amazing techno-geeks have made it so simple today, that the average guy like me can now build their own great looking website. But just because you can, should you? From my perspective it boils down to:
1) How much time are you willing and able to put into it?
2) How much control do you want to have with it?
3) How professional and functional does your site need to be?
Websites can be huge time-suckers! If you've got plenty of time to set up and maintain a website, then go for it! You might be saving a lot of money in the long run especially if you know Photoshop and can make your own graphics.

Customizing your site, adding and updating information, creating images, etc., will take a lot of time up front. If you're a creative person who's picky about every little thing, you'll be working on it endlessly! There's always one more thing to tweak. If this will be your business website, be honest with your abilities. Can you make it look professional? A lousy looking website is like a home made business card. Yuck! There goes making a good first impression.

Because it's an online program, there's nothing to download and install. You go online to design and update everything. This is a GREAT feature because I'm not tied to a certain computer that has the program on it. I can update my websites from anywhere so long as I have an internet connection. Weebly is so much easier to work with, I now design all of my sites with it including several websites I've built for my clients.
I strongly recommend checking out different design programs to see which one works best for you. Don't make it harder on yourself by choosing a program you don't like working with. Weebly clicks with me and it might for you too. It won't cost you a thing to try it.
